The Frank & Ella Hatheway Labour Exhibit Centre displays worker’s memorabilia, vintage tools, old labour photos, and historic labour documents dating back to the 1800s. Opened in 2007, the Centre is dedicated to preserving, promoting and honouring the rich history of workers and the labour movement in Saint John. On display outside the Centre is the exceptional April 28th Day of Mourning monument.
Free admission. Visits can be scheduled by appointment only.
The Saint John Region is situated on the traditional and unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik, Mi’Kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati Nations. This territory is covered by Peace and Friendship Treaties signed with the British Crown in the 1700s. The treaties did not surrender the territory and resources, but recognized Wolastoqiyik, Mi’Kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati title, and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
