10:00 am – Musketry Salute From Portland Point

Join the soldiers of DeLancey’s Brigade as they fire a welcoming volley from Place Fort La Tour.

 

10:30 am - 12:00 pm – The History Of Fort Howe 

Hear how Fort Howe came to be and learn about its connection to Portland Point with local historian Don LeBlanc. Hosted & presented by Place Fort La Tour. (Three presentation times 10:30 am, 11:00 am and 11:30 am).

 

10:00 am - 3:00 pm – A Loyalist Home 

Visit Loyalist House, Saint John’s oldest home, and experience a taste of life in the late 18th and early 19th centuries with historical re-enactors from DeLancey’s Brigade. Hosted by the NB Historical Society,120 Union St.(Free Admission / Donations Accepted)

 

10:30 am - 2:30 pm – Tour the Loyalist Church 

Guided tours and talks on the history of Trinity Anglican Church, 115 Charlotte Street. Trinity was the city‘s first church community tracing its roots back to the Loyalist’s arrival in 1783. See the treasure they brought with them.

 

10:30 am - 2:30 pm – Discover Your Loyalist heritage 

The NB Genealogical Society will hold a walk-in genealogy clinic - do you have Loyalist roots? Learn how to explore your own heritage. Hosted by St. John's Stone Church, 87 Carleton Street.

 

12:15 pm - 1:00 pm – 1783 - A Loyalist Pops Concert 

Tim Blackmore (square piano) performs tunes familiar to the Loyalists of 1783. Hosted by the Saint John Arts Centre, 20 Peel Plaza. (Freewill Offering)

 

12:15 pm - 12:30 pm – Wreath Laying Ceremony 

Join the United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada - NB Chapter for a brief ceremony at the earliest known grave in the Loyalist Burial Ground.

 

12:30 pm - 1:00 pm – Burial Ground Tour 

Following the ceremony, learn more about the Loyalist Burial Ground on a guided walk and talk with local historian and author David Goss.

 

1:00 pm – Loyalist Day Luncheon: Roast Beef Dinner ($)

2:15 pm – The landscape of Saint John in 1783 

Join Geologist Bill Gardiner for a talk on the land that greeted the Loyalists when they arrived - rock, swamp, and generally inhospitable conditions. Hosted by the Saint John Regional Library in Market Square.

 

6:00 pm - 7:30 pm – Loyalist City Walk n’ Talk 

Meet David Goss at City Hall Plaza for a walk and talk in the footsteps of our Loyalist founders, meeting characters who walked the streets of early Saint John along the way.
