What's Your Reason? Welcoming Vibes in #SJTownsByTheBay

August 15, 2022

As part of our 500 Reasons to Discover Saint John & the Towns by the Bay Giveaway, we're featuring YOUR reasons for making #SJTownsByTheBay your bay-cation or stay-cation destination!

Our week five winner is Kristina Turtal, a newcomer to Saint John whose reason for exploring the region is the welcoming vibes:

Kristina shares:

We just moved here to Saint John, New Brunswick. From the moment we landed in the airport, we already felt the kindness and friendliness of the people. When we went outside to take a taxi to our hotel, there was only one sedan taxi available, which was not big enough for a family of three plus our luggage. Having no sim card at that time to call and book a bigger taxi, the driver of the sedan taxi helped us to book a taxi that could accommodate us. If he hadn't offered to help, I don't know how long we would have been waiting in the cold weather.

For the first few days discovering the city of Saint John, we immediately felt the warm welcome of the people. Wherever we went, everyone was greeting us with a gentle smile, holding the doors if we were behind them, cars were stopping when we were crossing the street, and everyone was very approachable and friendly.

We have visited some breathtaking nature parks and tourist spots here in Saint John, like Rockwood Park, Dominion Park, King's Square, Saint John City Market, Fort Howe National Historic Site, Area 506, Wolastoq Park, Renforth Lighthouse, Reversing Falls, New Brunswick Museum and the historic streets of uptown. The list will carry on as we continue to explore the many attractions that are still waiting to be discovered.

We did not know anyone when we arrived but after months of living here, we already feel that Saint John is our new home - it does hold awesome vibes!

Congratulations Kristina! We hope your prize winnings give you even more reasons to Discover Saint John & the Towns By The Bay.
